Reading a nice book!

So, I think I've decided--I am going to continue to seriously pursue my writing (instead of continuing to be a Waldorf teacher, or maybe doing something to actually make money) but I'm not going to try to make myself do Difficult Writing Feats Never Before Attempted during these three weeks that I'm subbing at the school. Because of the emotionally vampiric effect of all the little preschoolers and the not wanting to be mean to myself and set myself up for failure thing. So, no Clarion West write-a-thon. (Unless I set my goal really, really low for the first two weeks.)
But what I am going to do during these three weeks is spend munchkin's nap time reading. Guiltlessly! Which I totally love to do and seem to never get any time for at all these days. And it worked out beautifully because Keyan Bowes just posted on LJ with a nice link to a book that looks really good and is also free. I read the first chapter and was impressed with (1) the funness and readability and (2) the quality of the prose so far.
I'm off to go read some more!
ETA: I am less impressed with the book a few more chapters in. There's still stuff to like, but it has a lot of "first novel" problems.
